5 Perks of Being a Small Business Owner

Autumn and Thanksgiving have always been my favorite times of the year. I love the cool, crisp weather, the comfy clothes, a cozy fireplace, being with family and close friends…not to mention indulging in delicious comfort food!

Most of all I love the energy and vibe of the season. To me, it signifies a time to be particularly appreciative. Although I am always caught up in the nitty-gritty of running my business, I am pausing to appreciate my life as a lady entrepreneur. These are just some of the perks of owning a business that I am especially grateful for...

1. A Flexible Schedule

I would walk into quiet stores and restaurants as a kid and I think to myself, "I can’t imagine working in a place where I would have to sit around and be bored all day. If I am going to be at work, I have to be working!" Having a business that is “by appointment only” means I’m only there when I need to be. And while I’m always thinking about my business, I can choose when to be working – and when not to!

2. Yoga Pants

Before becoming a massage therapist, my jobs required me to wear “work” pants. I can’t tell you how thankful I am that it is considered "professional" to go to work in the comfiest pants!

3. Positive Workspace Energy

Being an empath, it is so important to be surrounded by people who have positive energy. I absolutely love being able to choose my staff and create a harmonious atmosphere at PK. We genuinely enjoy going to work every day – and providing our clients with the best possible experience at our studio!

4. Finding My Tribe

When I first started my business, I only wanted to focus on massaging clients – and not the business end of things. As I started to become more comfortable marketing PK (with the help of my lady entrepreneur tribe!), I realized I really enjoyed it. Thinking about new and creative ways to build my business, bouncing ideas off of other smart and fierce ladies who love what they do – and then making those ideas happen – is the most empowering part of being a woman entrepreneur.

5. Happy Clients, Happy Life!

Ultimately, I am most grateful for our clients. There is no better feeling than hearing about their transformative experiences or reading their positive reviews. It is because of their love and support that I am blessed to be a small business owner!
