Hot stone massage has been used for over 5,000 years (originating in India) as a powerful bodywork tool that provides a wide range of benefits to the mind, body, and spirit.
Relieves Muscle Tension and Tightness
For sore, tired, and stressed out muscles— we know that heat is our friend. And because hot stones retain heat for an extended period of time, they may just be our muscle’s best friend.
Hot stone massage works to relieve muscle tension, pain, and helps to draw out toxins from the body. It’s a signal to the muscles that it's okay to let go, to release, and to relax.
It also allows us to work with the muscles in a way that our hands can’t, providing a unique sense of pressure and the ability to work deeper into the muscles without causing pain.
Improves Circulation and Increases Metabolism
Hot stones also help to increase circulation in the body– expanding the blood vessels and allowing the blood to flow into spaces that may not get enough love.
This feeds the cells with nutrients and allows the body to cleanse itself of toxins via the lymphatic system (which is why we recommend lots of water after your session!)
The heat impacted touch can help to reignite and jump start our metabolism as well; sending subtle messages to the body to let go of what it doesn’t need.
